New SSD isn't bootable

I installed a new SSD, leaving the old HDD plugged in so I wouldn't have to deal with Windows 7 authentication (it was an upgrade disc). Sadly now, I realize that was a mistake as it seems some of the boot files go to the HDD and I can't boot the SSD by itself (which was the point of course - eventually will use the HDD for storage). I tried repairing with the Windows 7 installation disc, but no luck. Any thoughts on how to rescue this besides starting all over (I already did all the updates, which takes quite a while!)? Thanks!

I finally found the solution. I needed to mark the drive as active in disk management (computer - manage - disk management) and than ran the Windows 7 installation disk. Repair took care of it this time. Took 5 minutes once I figured it out.
