Hi folks,

So I have been using a homebuilt system for the past 4 years which current has 2 1TB HDD's, one with Windows 8 installed on it.

I was looking for an upgrade, and found a good deal on a Dell XPS 8700 so I pulled the trigger and it comes in the mail tomorrow.

Ill be carrying over my 2 1TB HDD's into the Dell, which will then have a total have 3 1TB HDD's. Obviously, 2 of the drives will have an OS installed on them, and I will be using the Win8 install from the Dell moving forward.

So, my question is how should I go about removing the Win8 install on one of the drives I am installing? Should I just delete all of the files on the HDD or do an official "uninstall"? I've just never done this before.

Another question is, the Windows 8 install from the Dell is Windows 8, but my current OS is Windows 8 Pro. Does anyone know if I can use the license number from my Win8 Pro license and, erm, "unlock" Win8 Pro on the Dell Win8 license?

Thanks!!

You will have to reinstall the OS no matter what. You cannot just put the HDD with windows installed on it into the new computer and use it. Windows HAS to be reinstalled.
