So recently my computer started freezing randomly and being very slow, It takes about 5 minutes for it to start up and I have never had an issue with that, usually takes about 30 seconds or less for it to start up and load. For some reason when I tried running sfc /scannow it stops at 17% and says that it was unable to continue, I ran the Memory Diagnostic, everything seemed to be fine. Ran a full system scan for malware, everything seemed to be clean as well. What can I possibly do? Laptop has been running perfectly for almost 3 years now and I do not feel like buying a new Windows 8 laptop. Any ideas?

Solution

Download Malwarebytes, run a full system scan. Speaking from experience, Norton is about as useful as a screen door on a submarine.

Thats the only thing I can think of that would cause that massive of a slow-down.

what can I do if I can't even run the malwarebytes? Whenever I try to run it, it always detects one infected object and then after a couple of hours it just stops working, and it happened like 3 times already, the scan just does not finish and it is because of the virus, how can i get rid of that virus?

See if it will let you download and install Avast, that has a boot-time scan option, which will let it do a deep scan before the computer fully boots up. I use the paid version of Avast Internet Security as my primary security and have never had a virus get through.

How do I do that? Do I have to load BIOS for that?

Another problem is probably that I cannot start my laptop in BIOS. I kept pressing Insert/Delete/F12 but windows just started loading. I have a Sony laptop

I am not sure where it is in the free version, but the boot-time scan is here in the full software. No bios access is required.

Download the iso that matches your current version from this page, burn it to a disc and activate with your key after it is installed. This is NOT an illegal method btw.

The major question will the key on the back of my laptop work as a legitimate key? Since it technically has been already used

Yes it will, as long as you use the same version of 7 you have now, and the motherboard in the laptop has not changed.

So, I have successfully reinstalled windows 7 but the problem is that there are absolutely no drivers, where can I get all the drivers? When I try to connect my laptop through cable, there is still no internet connection, or is there a download version of Windows 7 that has drivers included?

Yeah, didn't think of that before posting... I just went on the Sony website and they have all the drivers and apps and I need.
