Hey folks, looking to upgrade my rig after 4 years, and just wanted to make sure everything checks out as I haven't been following the industry at all, sadly.

Current Specs:

**CPU** | AMD Phenom II X4 945 Deneb 3.0GHz Socket AM3 95W
**Motherboard** | Gigabyte GA-MA770T-UD3P AM3 AMD 770 ATX
**Memory** | OCZ Reaper HPC 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Dual Channel Kit
**Storage** | Western Digital Caviar Black 640GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s
**Video Card** | XFX Radeon HD 4870 1GB 256-bit GDDR5
**Case** | Cooler Master RC-690-KKN1-GP Black SECC/ ABS ATX Mid Tower Case
**Power Supply** | Corsair 650W

Basically I wanted to replace the video card with an AMD 7950, add a SSD ~120-128GB (I was looking at either the Kingston HyperX or Samsung ones) onto which I'll do a clean install of Windows 8/8.1, and add some more RAM (2 x 4GB, giving me a total of 12GB). Currently playing BF3/4, Diablo 3, some Starcraft II, and DOTA 2.

My main concerns are if there are:

  • Any issues with the PSU being insufficient?
  • Will there be any bottlenecking?

  • And anyone have any recommendations or experience with any of my prospective upgrades and have any tips to offer?
  • More about : upgrade compatability check

That PSU should be fine, but since you are a gamer I would think twice about Windows 8.

No issues. It should be more than enough for your new graphics card.

If there is, it's likely not going to be noticeable.
