I'm in the market for a new laptop. I'm a photographer so I need enough strength for photo editing. We also plan on using Chromecast for streaming full screen videos to our TV. My main question is whether I should focus on video cards being added besides the build in Intel graphics? I know Lightroom doesnt using the video card to function but thought for streaming it would be best. I'm going to get at least 8GB RAM and 17" screen but is there much of a difference between 1600x900 vs 1920x1080

Any recommendations?

A discrete card would be good for Photoshop for sure, if you use that at all (http://www.studio1productions.com/Articles/PhotoShop.htm) In general use though, you can get by with decent integrated graphics.
