Having CPU trouble

I was looking around and I was wondering if the processor and the video card have to be same? My other question is will the EVGA GeForce 8400 graphics card will work on the dell inspiration 600m

The processor / CPU : The computer's Brain
The Video Card / GPU : The thing that makes things appear on the monitor

No , the CPU and GPU are entirely different unless you're using a integrated GPU .

Oh and looks like the PC you're talking about is a Laptop. You can't upgrade the Laptop GPU .

If you want better Graphics , highly recommend that you build your own Gaming Desktop . You can keep the Laptop for work.
If you don;t have enough cash for 2 PCs , then you might just have to get a better Laptop.

Try to find a Laptop witht he i5-3230M , and the GT640M . It's a good pair.

in a laptop without being specifially build with a gpu, then yes you would be looking at a apu. as for what you asked, the plain answer is no, you have a laptop, a 8400 is a desktop gpu, it will not work.
