Hi, my computer has been acting really weird lately. Ever since I removed the heatsink fan to clean it and installed it back, it starts to get laggy and slow. Everything becomes laggy and slow. Sometimes the blue screen pops up and sometimes it doesnt.

Solution
Get some artic silver or other high quality paste and reapply. The way thermal paste works is that after application it forms an airtight weld between the two metal contacts. Heat flows from one metal across the paste to the other metal. Once the weld is broken it won't reform again without reapplication due to air bubbles getting trapped in the paste. So clean off the old paste, reapply new paste and reseat the HSF. Within a few hours the weld should reform and you'll be good again.

No I did not reapply thermal paste after I installed the fan. When I took the HSF off, It had some thermal paste on it and I thought that was enough for the HSF.
