Which of these 2 CPU's are better for gaming?

I know the GPU is what matters and i am gonna get a 760 but for the cpu....

Intel Core i5-4570 Quad-Core Desktop Processor 3.2 GHZ

Intel Core i5-3570 Quad-Core Processor 3.4 GHz

Which one? Thanks

If this is not an upgrade from a previous Intel platform (Sandy or Ivy Bridge) then go with the latest technology.

I don't understand why people suggest Ivy over Haswell for NEW system upgrades/builds when the price difference is pretty much nil. Go with the latest technology. It will be a little faster and have other benefits/features for roughly the same cost.

Mirakledba, there are two boards from Gigabyte you could look into:

GA-Z87MX-D3H which supports 2-way SLI and comes in at around $115 from Microcenter

GA-H87-D3H which does not support 2-way SLI and is just under $100 from NCIX.

There are no H87 boards that I know of that support SLI, only Z87 boards. For the extra $15, IMO it's worth it for the extra features.

Haha. Z87 IS WAY over my budget....max ill pay for a motherboard is 99$ or 100$. Please give me some options...

The i5 3570 will do you just fine. There is not really enough of a performance increase in the i5 4570 to make it a "win". Really the main performance increase is in the igpu and since you are going to be using a GTX 760 it will not impact your performance at all.

Yes the z87 chipset does have some improvements over the Z77 but not enough to make a real difference really. I have a friend that built a new Z87 rig and we have benchmarked quite abit and really both of our rigs were very very close together. In games were his did beat my i5 3570K it was only by 1-5fps that is it.

If the i5 3570 is what you can afford go for it. It will make a very good gaming rig with no problems what so ever. Personally I am going to hold out to see what if anything Broadwell brings to the table. I may upgrade then but as of now Haswell just does not have enough to offer.

WAY? no not at all, same price as z77, you can even get z87 motherboards for 50 dollars.
Please broaden your field of view, and then even so, the performance gaine over a z77 is worth the extra 10 dollars.

Why suggest then the i5-4570, its a z87 processor? all i am stating it would be a waste going for a z77.

Processor is 10 dollars more as well (about) for a 10% performance gaine on the z77 version i5, great value for the money if you ask me.

show me a Z87 board for $50....go on....show me.....
not saying you cant get one to suit that cpu, but not a Z series chipset.

Guys calm down. I looked at some benchmarks and the 4570 beat the 3570 so the 4570 is the cpu i wanna get...so as for the motherboards...please give me a motherboard that can SLI and is good for the 4570 for 100$ max. If you cant find an SLI motherboard for 100 than just give me a really good motherboard for 100$ max and thats good for the CPU i picked.

Picked as best answer, if not SLI the Gigabyte Z87 - HD3 is good too but it only supports crossfire.

or the MSI z87 g43 also only crossfire or the G45 which supports both, very happy with this motherboard overall.

I think you meant to say "if not SLI, the Gigabyte H87-D3H" ;) and yes, you're correct, it does support crossfire.

Thanks for selecting my answer. :)
