Computer slower after installing new CPU

I posted here not too long ago for help installing an i7 3770 processor. Now that I have it installed, my PC is slower than it was before my upgrade from an i5 2300.

The computer takes a long time to boot. Specifically on the windows start screens after the bios splash screen. Once windows is fully loaded and on the desktop, it takes longer than normal to open basic programs such as google chrome and even control panel.

If I go to Youtube or try to play a game or even sometimes for no apparent reason, my screen will go black and my graphics driver will crash then recover. Sometimes this will make my cursor disappear which is quite irritating.

Everything was fine before I updated the bios and switched the CPU.

I've tried re-seating the CPU, Reinstalling windows, and clearing the CMOS. No luck. Task manager shows that all of my cores are running.

After searching all over the internet for a solution, I am thoroughly stumped.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

This might be stupidly obvious but its the only thing i can think of off the top of my head. Are the CPU BCLK/Multiplier set correctly? For some Reason when i changed my cpu a while back ( i mean back in the core 2 duo days) i used to get weird multi/base clock combo's until i would reset them for the required cpu. Most new mobo's can decipher cpu specs though so its a pretty lame answer from me.

Just a stab in the dark...

High-end Ivy bridge CPU on a low-end Sandy bridge motherboard... Could there be some compatibility issues? As gamerk316 suggested, perhaps the BIOS needs to be updated?

Your CPU and GFX card are suffering ,if you can't afford a good ivy bridge mobo like the z77 at least change the bottlenecking H61 with some thing like B75 since your CPU is not a "K" one.

Not true. Don't listen to this guy.

What bios revision are you using? You at least need version "7732v20" to run the 3770 properly.

I'm using 7732v23. My computer wouldn't even start with the new i7 in it until I updated to 7732v20. Since it was so slow I updated to 7732v23, and it's still slow.

I have a Seagate 500GB SATA HDD 7200 RPMs and 8gb DDR3 Black Dragon RAM but i'm not sure of the frequency.

Another thing I should mention is that when I put my old Processor in, my computer seems to run fine. So I suppose that should rule out other hardware, right? I could be wrong. I have a feeling there may be some sort of driver conflicts going on because when I have the i7 chip in, my AMD display driver crashes frequently. The card and drivers work fine with the i5 chip.

I'm going to try to clear my CMOS once more and see if that helps.

I may have a bit exaggerated when i said it's a bottelneck mobo ..but truely: such a cpu and gfx deserves a better one .

Indeed they do. Tax return season is just around the corner, and I'll be buying a much better mobo.
