Hey guys I have an FX 6300/Hyper 212 O/C at the moment a cool 4.1ghz. Im just looking at the voltage here through cpu-z.
I have been told the standard Voltage for the cpu is 1.4V and im not sure how much this should vary during load.
Checking cpu-z my voltage under no load at 4.1 is 1.356, but when i go to run intel burn or Prime, it passes but runs smack on 1.31v and throttles to 15x straight away still. Hell core temp was reporting Vcore from 1.22-1.32 during a max stress intel burn. Is this normal to have voltage fluctuate massively and drop under load?
I have disabled cool and quiet, c6 and all power saving options but im finding it impossible to get the FX to sit at its 20x multiplier during stress tests or heavy loads such as Video encoding.
How does this whole voltage thing work. I have tried adjusting the CPU over Voltage manually through BIOS but nothing ever changes (to the point where i can set it at 1.45v but still shows exactly 1.356 in cpu-z at idle, and the same 1.302 under 100% load. Could this be the reason for the crashing during games and ripping blu-ray to mp4? The only thing i can see wrong with my set up is the large Voltage drop under full load. (Doesn't matter if i run 3.5/3.6/3.7 or anything clock speed it still drops to 15x instantly under load and drops voltage.
Because I have cool and Quiet disabled it now idles at its nominated 4.1ghz at a nice 21 Degrees, but drops the multi back to 15x even at 30 degree temps under load. (and should i mention the multi changes very irratically from 15-18-20-15-12-15 like every second during stress tests.
Sorry for long post but basically im asking if this sounds like voltage throttling, because its definately not throttling because of tempreture spikes. No matter what i set my CPU-Voltage to manually, it drops straight to 1.31 and 15x....... ripping me apart guys.
Whats scarier is that core temp notes an even lower Voltage under Load!!! 1.28 and around 1.332 on idle. Im so lost guys. Could it be my cheap mobo ( m5a78l-m lx v2) causing the voltage descrepancies? im hoping its not my PSU as its an OCZ 650W so it should be upto the task,
