The FX4300 is better in it's own ways, though they both are fine for gaming. Another, better, option is the FX6300 which has 6-cores for only $20 more, and Newegg at this moment is offering a $20 gift card with a purchase http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113286 .
