Hello everyone!

My power supply (Corsair HX 620 modular power supply) just blew up :( It went strong for six years. I have to purchase a new powersupply now.

All suggestions are welcome. Corsair and Cooler master are more easily available brands, but if any other power supply is highly recommended do tell.

My system:

Case: CM 690 II Advanced
CPU: Core i5 750 OC@ 4.0GHz (max)
8GB Vengance RAM
1 500GB Hard disk and 1 128 GB SSD
GPU: MSI 580 Lightning Xtreme edition 3GB

I will probably never do SLI/corssfire.

Two PSUs that are easily available: Cooler master G600/G700, Corsair GS600/700. I am looking for a good realible PSU that can safely and easily power the hardware mentioned above. Thanks!!!!

For a system using a single MSI GeForce GTX 580 Lightning Xtreme Edition 3 GB graphics card MSI specifies a minimum of a 700 Watt or greater system power supply that has a maximum combined +12 Volt continuous current rating of 42 Amps or greater and that has at least two 8-pin PCI Express supplementary power connectors.

Total Power Supply Wattage is NOT the crucial factor in power supply selection!!! Sufficient Total Combined Continuous Power/Current Available on the +12V Rail(s) rated at 45°C - 50°C ambient temperature, is the most critical factor.

Overclocking of the CPU and/or GPU(s) may require an additional increase to the maximum combined +12...

Will the GS600 be enough to power my system? I dont mind spending an equivalent of 20 bucks for an extra 100 Watts for what could be a 5 year plus investment, but if 600 watts are sufficient for my GTX 580 lightning, I'd rather save the cash :D just being extra careful and future proof, the money spent on this PSU was supposed to buy another SSD...oh well :/

Overclocking of the CPU and/or GPU(s) may require an additional increase to the maximum combined +12 Volt continuous current ratings, recommended above, to meet the increase in power required for the overclock. The additional amount required will depend on the magnitude of the overclock being attempted.

The Corsair GS600 power supply unit, with its maximum combined +12 Volt continuous current rating of 49 Amps and with two (6+2)-pin PCI Express supplementary power connectors, is more than sufficient to power your system configuration with a single MSI GeForce GTX 580 Lightning Xtreme Edition 3 GB graphics card.

The Cooler Master G Series are entry level budget power supplies made with cheaper components. The cost cutting shows up as most of the cables lacking any sleeving and there's no cable guard where the output cables exit the power supply.

Thanks for all suggestions so far. Corsair GS700 not available anymore here....neither is HX620, so I am totally lost. Please suggest as many good quality supplies as you can (keeping my system configuration in mind) price is not much of an issue, the PSU should just be able to power my system cleanly and reliably whilst having enough headroom for overclocking/upgrades (No multi card setup though)

Corsair, antec, Cooler master I have seen personally being sold here...although anything goes. Dont care much for modular/non modular either, main thing is reliability and quality.

Also the more suggestions the better as long as they can fulfill my requirements...its very rare to find high quality PSU easily here. The more the suggestions, the better my luck will be regarding availability.

CM GX and G series were available, but they have received quite negative reviews.
No availability per se. High end components are not avialble in my area, so I have to place an advance order, which is then bought from another city. Hence I would like a wide variety of high quality PSU...one of them should be available at least. Other wise I'll just get CM GX or G series supply or Corsair CX series. I could get the AX850, but it is too expensive and I have no plans of SLI so I would be wasting money. Thanks again for taking the time to reply.

Oh no...apparently the CX one isnt available too. Cant believe my luck. A month ago every single model from corsair was available.

Is there any other Antec/Corsair any other brand PSU? Getting a little desperate now. Dont want to order online and pay double/
