Ok. First off this is the motherboard I'm using. http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M5A99X_EVO/

I recently bought a fx-8350. I put it in, tried booting computer up and it wouldn't beep, wouldn't load windows, just fans running. I moved my ram to the first slot, nothing. Removed the video card. no beeps. So desperate thinking I fried my computer I reinstall my old CPU and PRESTO! The thing boots.

I cleared the "JMPR" on my mobo, even removed CMOS battery while I was dusting out the computer but was wondering if I anything else could be the problem?

All cables were in place correctly too.

O yeah. I'm running windows 7, 64-bit

Edit: Don't know if it would matter but I was running a Quad-core phenom in the machine before trying the switch.

You ned to download bios update from asus website get a usf flash drive, format it to fat32, save update there stick to usb slot and your mobo bios has e.z. flash utility. Just choose flash from usb or something, click yes on warning and in few seconds it reboots and u good to go

Some boards have a windows utility for updating the bios and others have the program built into bios to just read the updated bios off of a flash drive without having to make the drive bootable. Read your manual for your board. It will explain the options available to you.
