Hi..
I have just got my computer assembled, consisting of the following components:

1. Processor: AMD fx 8320
2. MoBo : Gigabyte ga970a DS3
3. RAM : ADATA 1600Mhz DDR3
4. PSU : Corsair VS-550W

The thing which I'm confused about is that, when the system is idle the CPU runs at around 1400Mhz with Core voltage 0.89V as shown in CPUZ, but when it is put under load the core voltage jumps to 1.4v and the cpu clocks at 3700Mhz..Is it Okay for the CPU...

the reason it goes down to 1400 mhz is the same reason it will turbo up to 3.7 ghz (or whatever). AMD cool n' quiet works to keep the processor cool and its fan quite. it does this by downclocking the cpu when it isn't doing anything. When it is doing heavy work loads, the tubro kicks in and runs it faster than its base. both are perfectly fine for the cpu.

if seeing this bothers you, you can go into your bios and disable a few options to keep the voltage and clockspeed constant, but then it will use more power than it needs to. or just uninstall cpuz and never look at the behind the scenes stuff again ;)

Hi..
The voltage range this CPU touches is confusing me...Isit Okay to have 0.888Volts without load and 1.428Volts under load ????

Yeah. It isn't that big of a problem. The cpu uses voltage to stabilize itself while running at a certain clock speed. If it is running at 1.4 ghz it doesn't need to use as much power to keep everything running smoothly. But when it is running at 3.7 ghz it needs more. This is perfectly normal.

thank you ... i was starting to worry because intel uses only 1.25v when overclocked :l ... and i know these amd cpu's require more power because they are optimized more for performance and not power consumption
