I have a 7950 with a blown SMD capacitor and am wondering if anyone has any solution to fixing it. Here is the picture:

If the card is no longer under warranty and it is essentially broken I do not see a problem with trying to fix it if you have a soldering iron. Soldering can be a little nerve racking but with a few practice runs its really pretty easy to get a surface mount ceramic cap soldered into place. Now you can certainly destroy your board, but like I said with no warranty I would go for it.

Forgot to mention that depending on the parts age there is most likely something else wrong with your board. Caps do not usually blow for no reason so your efforts may end up being futile regardless.

You could repair it with a soldering iron and a new part assuming you can match it from a place like digikey or mouser. Unfortunately, matching the part may be difficult without schematics. You can try starting with a larger capacitance like 1uF and working your way down if needed. Depending on what the capacitor is used for its value may not be entirely important. You could also try calling the manufacturer of the card.. who knows they might give you some information.
