Motherboard Warranty ?

The heat plate on the back of the motherboard and the standoffs on the front, if you remove those to install a different cooler that uses its own plate (hyper evo 212), does that void the motherboards warrenty? I dont think it would be easy to tell if you did remove them but Im thinking about sending my asus board in for a rma because the sound quit.

Are you talking about an AMD board? unless you took of the armor off the back of a saber tooth board you are fine... the back plat for amd processors needs to come off in order to install. so that won't void your warranty. just make sure you re install it before rma

Just remember to put the plastic cover back over the CPU socket. The manufacturer typically will not take the mobo back without that.
