I am looking to do a small upgrade on my personal gaming computer. I am looking to upgrade the Mobo and CPU. I know that I want the FX6300, but I am torn at what Mobo to buy. Reviews for motherboard seem to be hot or cold when you are aiming in the $80-$120 range.

I have 8gb of DDR3 Gskill ram
600w Corsair PSU
GTX nVidia 460

I want the FX6300 CPU as said before and I have been eyeing the 970 MSI boards. As I said before, I have a concern with the reviews not being as confident as I would like them to be. So I would like if someone would clarify for me and add some confidence to my buy: Is there anything wrong with using this mobo or ones similar to it for my current build?

tl;dr: is there anything wrong with cheap boards around the 80-120$ mark mixed with the FX6300 or are the reviews from people that are spoiled on better equipment?

I would highly recommend the ASUS M5A97 which is £59 or the M5A99X which is about £95. If you are able to spend that little extra, the 990x chipset is worth it and the board comes packed with all of the latest ASUS features.

Hope this helps!
