I have also been looking at the Asus Maximus V Gene for the MoBo and the Corsair Vengeance LP RAM (to save a little room in the case if necessary?)

Since this will be a new build I have also been contemplating the 4770K since it is newer technology/change in socket and is priced relatively close to the 3770K. I want the ability to upgrade later on if necessary or if I decide to game on the machine. This would definitely also require a good choice of MoBo and other parts; I just started researching combos so I am unsure of what would be the best MoBo or what I could keep from the above parts list.

I would like advice/suggestions if my build is good and also I did not select a power supply, which I need recommendations.

Thank you in advance for the assistance. I have learned so much already scouring these forums and it is such a help.

Not so sure that 32GB of RAM is necessary. I have 16GB, and I hardly use it when running multiple programs and games at the same time. I've never seen it go above 40% when running CAD, Solidworks, Visual Studio, MatLab, and of course, games.

Yeah you're probably right. The one thing it would depend on is if any third party plug ins for CS5/6 are going to be used. My company we use a lot of custom plug ins for AutoCAD and Revit but those don't eat up a ton of RAM, at least on the redraws.

I would do something a bit similar to Axl's rig and go the 4930K route, maybe try something like this:

This is better for editing. Im not sure how you did end up using 7970 for video card. I think Nvidia works better with Photoshop / Premier Pro.

Bit short budget. Maybe you can save on OS and get 8 PRO?
PRO is good to have because it supports more memory 16GB -> 192GB

Video editing you need lots memory + fastest cpu you can get.
And this is it. Cpu cooler u may drop to good air cooler like this.
And save 40$

Other good case is Fractal Define R4.

Other place where you may save is SSD.
Sandisk ultra plus is good and fast enough SSD. And really reliable drive. Price is just 165$ now. Samsung PRO is over 200 so..
