Fx 8320 vishera installation

First time building a Pc, I have a gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 motherboard with a AMD FX8320 black edition processor. CUrrently installing the cpu fan, but I have a question regarding it. THe hooks on the side aren't easily being pushed into the lock mechanism, is that supposed to happen?

If you are using the stock cooler be sure the cpu is seated and locked down correctly, if it is its probably just the fan. Amd coolers are notoriously hard to lock down and somewhat appear, note: appear, they dont actually, to break the cpu. I know with my stock cooler I thought I cracked the CPU head on it but its fine and safe.

I didn't have any CPU damage but the retaining clip that holds down the stock processor is very easy to misalign. It takes a lot of patience to get it right, but you'll know when you do.

thanks on another note is it fine to take it off and then place it back on with the thermal paste still not scraped off?

Its not a good idea, but you can. It will raise your temps as the air bubbles being trapped negate the purpose of the paste. Any time you remove the cooler after the first time sticking it on, you want to re apply the paste.
