Hey everyone, I'm looking to build a gaming PC for $3000 or less and any help you kind people could provide would be awesome!
I know that I definitely want an Intel Core i7-4770K CPU and an SSD over a HDD because I'm impatient haha (I know that SSD's aren't necessarily the best value still but it's something I value more highly than a lot of others would I suppose).
I will be using this PC mainly for gaming and possibly for some audio editing (just basic audacity unless I decide to shell out the money for some really good software like fl studio...but I digress). I also am looking into studying video game design and I have been learning basic coding and 3d rendering but that isn't as much of a concern as the gaming honestly.
I already have a 720p smallish tv that I plan on using as a monitor just to save some money though i may end up buying a monitor so I can run dual monitors. Additionally, I need to use wifi because my ethernet cable would have to run from my basement and i don't particularly want a 300 ft ethernet cable snaking through my house.
Any build suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Edit: I also would like to run windows 8 on it since i'm now accustomed to that

Hey I put together a parts list for about $3000 that will be EXTREMELY powerful. One of the most powerful CPU's you can buy. Pretty much the best graphics performance you can get out of two 780's a massive SSD for quickly loading stuff and a small WiFi card so you can avoid a 300FT ethernet cable through your house LOL

CPU: Intel Core i7-4770K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($339.79 @ DirectCanada)

Note: I would advice you to wait and see what the benchmarks for the R9 290x are before buying a gpu..
This price includes an amazing monitor as well.. and gives you the option to add in another gpu for SLI/X-fire later on..

Thank you paladin442, wtalk2, and fopa5 for your answers! They've been really helpful and I'm still trying to figure some things out but i'll probably end up with some amalgamation of your builds and I'm really thankful for your help. My other question is whether or not anyone knows what other things i'm gonna need to actually build my pc. Types of screwdrivers, static guards etc.

All you really need is a philips head screw driver. Make sure you have a couple different sizes just in case. Also if this is your first build for safety buy a anti-static wrist strap (They are only like $5) it will assure you that you won't fry your motherboard. If you can't get a anti-static wrist strap just remember to touch the case every one in a while to ground yourself and don't work on carpet.

That build is great! Only things I would change are get this video card instead. It's the same one but with a better cooler. Also it's $50 cheaper.

Lastly I suggest you go with a cheaper WiFi adapter. You really don't need a $100 WiFi adapter. You should be fine with something like this.

Otherwise great build, I think you are ready to build it. You can Private Message me if you need any more help :)

PS:If you ever need more performance you can always just buy another 780 and run it in SLI. (SLI is having two of the same Nvidia graphics card running together in the same computer for more performance.)
