Hi guys im new on the forum, recently I have build a new pc with new and used parts. Ive got a great deal on a used MSI 990FXA-GD80 that seemed in great shape and a used fx-8350 that was in a perfect working condition no bent pins or anything. After that I bought a WD hard drive, some corsair ram and a Raidmax 730w power supply (witch I suspect of being the silent killer). When everything was put together it worked, windows was running I've played a few LoL games, anyways the pc was running. Then I wanted to OC this baby because the CPU and my water cooling were asking just for that! So I have got this thing slowly up to 4.6ghz and while i was stress testing with prime95 everything just shuts down. There CPU was at about 50C so I didn't really understand what went wrong there. Opened the case and got FF code on POST. So after some research i realized that i was f***** f***ed :??: Took my pc to a pc store and the guy tested and said your mobo is fried. Ok dont buy a used mobo, got a brand new asus 990 ud3... now what... he says my cpu is also fried :/ So now i am wondering what went so wrong to cause me to lose both my mobo and cpu. Is it possible that the psu fried/shorted my mobo and cpu and the psu still works? Or its more likely that its the motherboard that had a malfunction and took down the CPU when it died on me?
P.S. when the pc went down there was no burnt smell or nothing and there are no burn marks on the cpu.
Anyone got tips for me?
Is it possible to make the PSU manufacturer pay for damaged hardware?

Solution
They might replace any parts if their techs determine that the damage was caused by their PSU. You would have to send them your system.

Raidmax earned their reputation for selling crap PSUs.

If you read the customer feedback on Newegg.com's website for that specific PSU you will find that customers have reported that their hard disk drive or optical drive controller board went up in smoke. Some have also reported dead motherboards and graphics cards.
I have never heard anything good about RAIDMAX - actually the opposite - very bad psu. Sorry you had to learn the hard way.

Edit I spelled RaidMax as Eaidmax - maybe they should change their name and START PUTTING OUT A BETTER PRODUCT!!!!!!!
