Hey guys, my friend had an idea, could you take, lets say, two identical computers,
Build for the two: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1Jswo
and connect them over LAN, and then introduce a 3rd, less powerful computer (Like a cheap laptop), and allow the 3rd to use the 1st and 2nd's computing power to deliver awesome gameplay performance to the 3rd?

Solution
There was a company with a service (surely it's still running) where you would pay like 8$/month and in exchange you were able to play any games on their server, where all the CPU/GPU processing would be done by their server and "streamed" using their software (based or using citrix) to your computer, all you needed was to have a good connection.

So yes, there's a way to do it, now how to it's another subject, try to dig in about it, I can't remember atm the name of that company...

A quick google search revealed to me that they stream the games, but only use a 1:1 ratio of server to player. So perhaps instead of the two computers working together, you could have just one, and stream via Ethernet or WiFi?

Yes it is, like I said the company onlive does it, what you need to find out is the way they capture the actions the client does (keystrokes, mouse, controller etc) to send it to the server, the rest is a simple streaming of the game running on the server.
