Recommendations, based on quality:
PSU under $130
Gold Plus or better
Minimum 650W (gold plus @ ~85% efficiency means ~550W)
Modular

Experience and references preferred.

I'm confused by your answer; it looks like you're recommending a Seasonic (which, incidently is one I was looking at along with a Rosewill Capstone and Antec Platinum EW), but your link is for an XFX.

I'd appreciate an answer with some explanation (like it says in my OP). Thanks!

Went with a the Seasonic G Series I posted above. Solid reviews (HardOCP Gold, for one), modular and I got it on sale for $89 @Newegg.
Thanks for the help in choosing Seasonic. The more I've read about them, the more they seemed like an obvious choice. The Tom's list of who makes who's PSUs made it pretty clear that even the best-of-the best often use Seasonic to produce their top PSUs (ahem, Corsair).
