There's a little speaker icon on the right of the taskbar. Right-click it and choose 'Recording devices'.
You should see a list of input devices (or maybe just one), the one you're looking for will have green bars next to it.

If you never use it, you can just right-click it and choose 'Disable'.
Otherwise, go to it's properties, go to the 'Listen' tab and uncheck 'Listen to this device'. The mic will still work, but the computer will stop playing what it hears through the speakers.

This should work in most cases. If you've installed special software for a soundcard, you might need to check the options there.

yeah its weird but it is still making sound even when i disable it, and the ''listen to this device" tab wasn't checked i checked it just to see what would happen and it was crazy loud, the only thing that stops it is when the speakers are off but i use my speakers, do you think there is another device installed causing this?
