Hello guys i am planning on using the fx 8350 and the soon to be released r9 280x. I am wondering which of these motherboards is the better option the ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0 or GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 . Which motherboard will do me more good for the future and will be more reliable and allow for more extensive overclocking?

Online reviews tend to point to the Asus being a bit more reliable than Gigabyte but both are good. I think both would be about equal with regard to overclocking, but if you need help on overclocking you're more likely to find youtube videos and other resources for the Asus OC.

I have to admit I might be a bit biased, though, considering my setup.

Not a problem. For the record, this was both my first build and first overclock. I studied everything I could over and over before I bought anything and the Asus board was extremely simple to set up and overclocking was really easy.

Definitely go with the Asus, from those I've worked with it OCs well and handles DRAM well, like the BIOS better also
