New PSU; PC won't boot.

So the other day, I got my new VTX3D HD 7870. I installed it in my homebuilt system and it ran fine. After about a day though, my PC decided to switch off mid-game and not long after, something in my case sparked up. I replaced my crappy Ace 500W PSU with a Corsair CX600M (the Ace was definitely broken) but the PC still won't boot unless I wiggle the 24-pin ATX connector at the right angle, in which case the case fans and PSU fan spin up, and occasionally the CPU fan, but only for a second or 2. I'm wondering if the motherboard's gone a bit dodgy as I've tested the PSU in another system. I can't test anything at the moment, so opinions and advice would be much appreciated.

Thing is, I've already tried fully inserting the connector into the motherboard, but no luck there. It only turns on for that split second when the connector is loose. Sorry for not clarifying that.

i am positive its the motherboard if the PSU works fine, if you have the opportunity test the components in another PC or borrow a motherboard? maybe you have one lying around.

If not then your best shot would be to get a new motherboard.

I don't have any other systems that will work with my cpu, gpu or RAM, but I may be able to talk to someone about my problem this afternoon. I'll post when I get an answer from him. :)

Took it to someone to get it looked at and they reckon it's the motherboard. Thanks for all the answers; I guess I'll get around to ordering a new one soon. Any recommendations would be nice. Specs below:

CPU: AMD FX 4100 3.6Ghz Quad Core
RAM: Corsair XMS3 8GB (2x4GB)
GPU: VTX3D Radeon HD 7870 Ghz Edition
PSU: Corsair CX600M
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200rpm

I think that's everything important.
