Looking to upgrade my Keyboard & Mouse for Battlefield 4 - Reccomendations for good FPS?

Hi

I'm looking to upgrade both my mouse and keyboard for Battlefield 4's arrival. My mouse is a highly budget gaming mouse which has been ok, but nothing special. The keyboard I had was an original Blackwidow from 2 years back with blue Cherry MX switches.

I'm not too blown on features as I don't need a bucket of G keys as I don't play RTS or MMO games (at least so rarely that I would need them) - it just needs to feel good in the hand, respond to quick motion and also illuminate as I prefer playing in a dark room. Normally I would have just gone for a Blackwidow Ultimate 2013, however Synapse 2.0 is a pain sometimes and my last Blackwidow developed a fault with some of the keys - so I don't know whether to take that as a sign of Razer's quality issues or just assume it was a one-off.

In terms of Cherry switches, I've never tried anything other than Blue, but I ADORE the tactile feedback you get from them and I never found that you had to push the keys very far to get a response. I know Red/Brown are more sensitive, but from what I read, only about 5g, so is that really worth it to lose that lovely feedback? I live alone so there's no issue with noise other than possibly over the gaming headset - maybe that might require a switch to Red or Brown.

I was planning to wait for Roccat's new MK RYOS PRO lineup - but is it worth waiting or should I just grab something now from the current lineup?

When it comes to mice, I've no clue! - I wouldn't rule myself out of sniping in Battlefield 4, but I've been pretty rubbish at it so far in Battlefield 3 so I tend to prefer CQB. :)

Cheers!

The corsair Vengeance K70 is a lovely keyboard that has Cherry MX Blue switches.

Couple that with either the Corsair M65 or the M90 and you have a great looking mouse and keyboard that also performs incredibly well!

If not then check out some Roccat keyboars (mainly the Isku) and their mice are also exceptionally good.

Hope this helps

The Isku is a lovely keyboard and will be great for you, although that said if you wouldn't mind the wait for the RYOS line up then you should go for that as they will most likely be better keyboards. They will also cost a little more most likely, but if that's not an issue just go for it! :D

Also the Isku does not have mechanical keys so forget I suggested that and wait for the RYOS or pick up a Corsair keyboard :D

Also to touch on your comment here
but from what I read, only about 5g, so is that really worth it to lose that lovely feedback?
If you love the tactile feedback then 5g really isn't worth it, however if you lived with someone they may find it annoying (which you stated you didn't so all is good) then stick with the blue's for the tactile feedback

Hope I helped

Cool! Well the Isku is out as it has to be a mechanical keybard. The Corsair's are very tempting actually and I think I'd be fine with Cherry MX Red switches if I couldn't find it in blue so that's no biggy.

Guess I'll be making a decision between Corsair K70 and Roccat Ryos :) Thanks.

The Cherry MX Red switches will have no tactile or audio feedback which is a huge shame just to let you know :)

Just found the most excellent deal for the keyboard, M65 mouse and mouse mat online which I can collect in store locally! Result - in time for the BF4 beta as well! :D

I watched a YouTube video of someone typing on Cherry MX Red switches - it still sounded fairly loud compared to what I was expecting. And to be honest I'm only going to be able to get specific keys if I order direct from Corsair! :p
