As the title says, my system will not post with either stick of ram I bought. The ram is 2x4gb of Kingston KHXsomethingsomething/8gb.

The mobo allegedly supports 1333mhz ddr3, but so far reseating, slot swapping, and single stick have not helped. The fsb jumper setting is correct as well, with pins 2 and 3 shorted. The mobo isn't at fault, as removing both ram will result in the expected 'no ram' beeping from the system speaker, which singles the ram out as the source of the issue.

I did read that apparently 1333 will only work properly with the mobo overclocked thru the bios, but this introduces a whole new problem, as I do not have any other compatible ram to pass post with.

Is there any way to fix this with the ram I have, or am I going to be buying lower clocked ram just to post and change the bios settings to make the other ram usable?

On that note, if anyone's got some DDR3-1066 they don't need or want, shoot me a pm, I think I spent enough fixing this rig already...

Okay, cool. The thing is, it should post either way. When people have RAM that is rated 1866 MHz or something and they load the bios for the first time with it installed, it's usually set to 1333 MHz or whatever the bios has a default, and then they set the correct settings.

I assume your mobo should post and set the RAM to 1066 MHz or something, and then you set the correct settings.

I'm on a tablet right now so copypasting isn't possible, it's Kingston KHX1333C9D3B1K2/8G, and it's a set of 2x4gb sticks.

Did check cpu slot for damage prior to installing everything else, so I'm pretty sure that's not the issue. RMA'ing the ram isn't an option either, as the returns window has long passed already.

It was used and its owner did say it worked fine, so I assume the ram is working. As I said above the problem seems to lie with the mobo needing its dram slots needing to be overclocked before ddr3-1333 ram will run properly, according to other forums where people have had this issue. I have some 1066 ddr3 on the way so I'll see if that allows me to pass post and get into bios.

Yeah, that did kind of bug me it wouldn't just post and use defaults. Unless there is some setting that is stopping it from booting with my ram. The fsb speed of the cpu is 1333 as well so there shouldnt be a compatibility issue there. The system beeps at me too if I remove both of them so the slots are probably not at fault.

It would just be my luck though if this mobo just did not like my ram and nothing I do will fix it. This whole build seems to be cursed, since the parts I ordered would either not fix the problem or they would arrive dead. I started fixing this pc in mid July and it has not passed post even once. I've replaced pretty much everything except the video and sound cards.

Well, the 1066 ram came in, and it works, but now that I am in bios, Im not sure what to set the dram settings to. Spec sheet for the KHX1333C9D3B1K2/8G says the timings are 9-9-9 at 1.5v, but Im not sure what other settings are needed to be changedd, if any.

Edit: sure enough, just as I manage to fix not even being able to boot, the monitor decides to die on me. This is seriously getting fucking old.

Well, the bios only had options for setting the speed (ddr3-1066, ddr3-1333 etc.) and latency and voltage as far as ram-related options went. No XMP option as far as I can tell. Neither of those settings helped with the issue though. Might just be what values I put in though.
