I have a pair of 7970 GHz's so plenty of GPU horsepower.

Solution
Here is also an AMD solution that would allow you to overclock right away. FX 83xx chips will trade blows with i5's and can outperform them in higher threaded workloads.

So total budget is 280 max. This would meet your budget, give you SLI and CF support, but no overclocking beyond the 400mhz offered through turbo multiplier setting. It is basically an i7 without the integrated graphics.

This option allows for overclocking and meets your budget. You would want an aftermarket cooler at some point if you want to overclock though.
