It appears that this system only supports Windows Vista. Attempting to update the BIOS while using a non-supported OS may cause your system to lock and not be able to recover.

Regardless, the only BIOS update available that I've been able to find only solves one minor issue.

Again, this BIOS update is ONLY FOR VISTA. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO INSTALL.

That is an HP bios.. If it is like my newer laptop the only bios that will work is one provided specifically for your model by HP. All you can do is find your computers model on the HP support site and see if there is a bios update. Let me ask though.. is anything broken? Bios is something you DO NOT try to update unless something is not working.

thank you for all the answers. I guess I am unable to update bios. I have been starting to get "crash" where the system just shuts down and when it reboots and an error report is sent, I am told it could be I need a bios update.
