I haven't tested many games yet, but I upgraded from an FX 6200 to an 8320 just yesterday.
I'd say my average FPS increase in games has been around 50, especially those that are CPU intensive/single-threaded. Love it. Once I OC it it will perform even better.
what games do you have in mind exactly, I'm upgrading from an A8-3870k to an FX8350 in a day or two(whenever it gets here)I'm guessing I should see a more drastic improvement than the FX6200?
Mainly older or single-threaded / CPU dependent titles. CSS/TF2/GMod/Minecraft, so far. I can now play all with highest AA and AF.
FX 6200 FPS (low gfx settings):
TF2 - Min: ~45, Avg ~70, Max ~220 (no other players around on that max)
Minecraft - Min: ~50 Avg: ~57, Max ~61. Just in normal gameplay, furthest render distance, lowest gfx settings.
G-Mod: Min ~40, Avg: ~70, Max ~140
FX 8320 (games maxed, AA+AF full too):
TF2 - Min: ~65, Avg: ~100, Max ~290 (no-one around, realistic max in combat 180)
Minecraft - Min: ~65, Avg: 90-100, Max: 170 (looking at the sky, usually max is around 130-140)
Haven't tested much else so far, just what I noticed when playing.
BTW I am on 1360x768 but these games tend to be CPU limited so I doubt I'd see much FPS loss from going Full HD. Also I can just OC to make up for that.
My minimum FPS has increased a bit (probably around 15-20) and my maximum has increased exponentially. As I said, when I OC to around 4.4 it should be even better. I'm not sure about the performance of your current chip but you will definitely see an increase. I'll be playing Skyrim and some other games later, so I'll update this post with them.
