Fan controller question

So I know it's generally a bad idea to use a motherboard fan header for more than one fan. I have 8, and totaled up they need about 50W. I have a special fan header that will keep my fans from "thrashing" or speeding up/slowing down quickly when doing normal tasks. It will be watercooled (why I have so many fans) so there is no reason for the fans to throttle based on CPU load.

I really, really, really don't want to deal with stupid knobs and manual fan controllers, I'd rather just have all my fans running at identical speeds. I know why you can't load a mobo header up, but I see no reason why you can't use one as a reference for other fan controllers, ones that are a lot more stout and powered directly from the PSU.

Anyway, I'm looking for a (linear analog, not PWM!!) fan controller that uses a fan header to set the fan speed instead of a potentiometer. I thought something like that would be easy to find, but I have yet to see anything remotely close. Does anything like that even exist? I figured it'd be a popular thing with huge multi fan radiators. I think I can rig something up with a LM317, but I'd rather just buy something than deal with all that.

Thanks in advance!

if you think the fans are too loud you can just solder a resistor to the 12v or 5v line (depending on the voltage of your fan) and connect them to the psu
its not very power efficient but the fans will slow down

Yeah, I could do that. That would completely kill any cooling capacity my system has except for idle speeds. These fans are on a radiator, they need to run faster as the water temp increases.

Does anyone have a suggestion more in line with what I originally asked?
