Hi
My PC config is : AMD phenom II X4 955 3.2 GHz , ASUS MB M4A87TD , ASUS VGA 6850 , WD Caviar Blue 1TB , 2x2GB RAM , Fortron FSP 500W and Thermaltake Armor A90.

I bought this PC 2.5 years ago , and never had any problems , until recently it restarted itself 2 times while playing games.I checked CPU temps , and in bios its 51degrees celsius , and with furmark test it goes up to 83 degrees (probably would go more if i hadnt stoped the test).

I have stock cooler on this phenom ,so , first tought is that this is problem. Now i have ordered CPU cooler (thermaltake contac 30) , but while I'm waiting for it to come , i want to ask , what else could cause computer restarting?

I'm asking this mainly because i never had problems with restarting PC for these 2.5 years until now , so its little strange to me , that problem is only because CPU has stock cooler. Why it never occurred before?

Any thoughts what else could cause this?

(I hope its not PSU or something like that)

Have you ever changed the thermal paste under that old stock cooler? After about a year or so, it begins drying out and losing its thermal conductivity. The temp you report is way too high for constant use. The CPU will begin throttling down until it finally shuts down to save itself.

But restarting can also be due to a weak?cheap PSU. FSP makes some good and some not so good PSUs. Check the nameplate rating on the side of the PSU for the +12V rating(s). If it is the model with the +12V rails rated in the 'teens', it is not a real 500W PSU and is probably part of or THE problem.
