As my final project for the year i am setting up a server that we will eventually move all our computers on to. I am using a poweredge 2900 as a server with windows server 2008 installed. As of now i have 2 computers connected to the domain which they can log on to.

- what i need help with

- How do i give all users access to programs?

- Each student needs to have access to her own drive through the server not locally.

The client computers are connected to a switch using dhcp.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

if you right click on the .exe for each program goto the security tab click add type "everyone" click ok then select the rights you want "everyone" to have i imagination that they must atleast have modify rights to run the programs properly.

To give each user their own drive:
SERVER- create a partition for them and call it STUDENT DRIVE or something else snappy...Do not use the one with the OS on it!
Create a folder call it student data in there create folders for each student. Then share the student data/student name folder in the folder properties with the specific student. Set size, done.
Example:
D: STUDENT DRIVE-
-Student Data
- Tim
- Bob
- Karen

STUDENT COMPUTER- Map a drive on the student machine to their respective folder.

This just a very basic set up and yeah there are other ways of doing it but this can be done on the server in about 5 minutes...Heck going to each student machine will take you the longest.
