Today I installed my Cooler Master hyper TX3 fan, and I have noticed that my idle temperatures are now hitting 60c. I have applied the thermal paste over a large part of the surface, and checked to see whether I could move it very much, which I couldn't. I am worried that I am going to break my processor and would appreciate any help.

What are you using to get that reading? It's possible you over-applied the thermal paste. Normally, you only want a very thin film. Just enough to seal the microscopic pores. Try cleaning off the paste with some cleaner like Arctic Cleaner: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835100010&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleAdwords&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-_-pla-_-Thermal+Compound+%2f+Grease-_-N82E16835100010&gclid=CMjOgZTB9rkCFckRMwodEHQA3Q Or even isopropyl alcohol.
Then just put a tiny dab in the center of the CPU's heat spreader. Example: http://www.maximumpc.com/article/howtos/howto_install_cpu_and_apply_thermal_paste
Then be sure to install the TX3 according to instructions. Is this an AMD or Intel CPU?

It looks like HWmonitor was massively over reading, but I will monitor it for the next few days just in case
