ASRock B75M R2.0 Bios compatibility issue

Hi everyone,

I am new to building computers and have what is hopefully a very simple question. I have selected an ASRock (B75M R2.0) motherboard and an Intel Celeron G1630 Ivy Bridge 2.8GHz. When I check the ASRock site for CPU compatibility, It lists the G1630 as being compatible with my board only if it has BIOS version P1.50. When I look up the specs on ASRock's site for the motherboard this is the info I find in the BIOS section:

- 64Mb AMI UEFI Legal BIOS with GUI support
- Supports "Plug and Play"
- ACPI 1.1 Compliance Wake Up Events
- Supports jumperfree
- SMBIOS 2.3.1 Support
- CPU Core, IGPU, DRAM, 1.8V PLL, VTT, VCCSA Voltage Multi-adjustment

What version number am I looking for? Of the two items with version numbers I would assume the SMBIOS was more relevant. I thought that SMBIOS was different from standard BIOS though. I do not have a spare CPU that I can use to throw in the board and flash a newer version of BIOS if the board does not come with at least P1.50 on it. Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks,

Mike

Your MB has only P1.00 version on it, when you go to the newegg website, click the MB picture and enlarge it, you can see it in the lower right corner, the white lable " B75M R2 P1.00-15B".
If you don't have other cpu, get the other one like Celeron G550. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Thank you for the help, I did not realize that the label is visible in the picture on Newegg. I will have to find a different board as I want the Ivy Bridge. From what I was reading, there is a decent improvement between the Sandy and Ivy bridge when it comes to graphics processing. Thanks again.
