Is this a good build for $1200 CAD?

I'm gonna be building a computer over the winter and im starting to do soem research now and i've got almost everything picked out. The price $1200 is before any sales (ignore the partpickers prices). Is there anything i should change or consider.
I'm an engineering student so primarily i'll be using this computer for school, CAD software and gaming. Any idea on how well it'll run modern titles like BF3/BF4,Crysis 3 and GTA:V?
The board doesn't support SLI but I'm thinking I'll stick to a single card and buy a new card if i ever need to upgrade.

Build:

Case:
Zalman Z9+

motherboard:
ASUS Z87-k

CPU:
Intel I5-4670k

CPU Cooler:
Coolermaster Hyper 212 EVO

RAM:
G.Skill Sniper series 8 GB (2x4GB) PC3-12800

GPU:
EVGA GTX 760 Dual Superclock w/ ACX Cooler

HDD/SSD:
Seagate 1TB Barracuda SATA 3 w/ 64MB Cache
Crucial M4 128GB SSD (For windows and skype)

Power Supply:
Corsair HX650 modular
OR
Corsair AX650 modular
(is there a big difference for these 2 PSU's? The AX650 is cheaper but it's always out of stock, i might consider ordering in store if i'm given a reason too.)

Great build! I suggest going with the AX650. The difference between the AX and the HX is that the AX is fully modular (Which mean than all the you can pick what cables you need to plug into the power supply) While the HX is only semi-modular (Which allows you to unplug all the cables from the power supply except motherboard power and CPU power) also the AX has better build quality overall.

Im getting the ram from a local store and thats the cheapest they have without have to get the ripjaws with the massive fins and awful color IMO. Also, why the upgrade to 750w and whats the reasoning behind the 840 of the crucial?

Upgrade to the 750W PSU so in the future if you choose to add a second GPU the PSU will be able to support it, with both of them being overclocked. Reason for 840 is because it is the fastest SSD around your price range.

I don't plan on ever switching to dual monitors and when the time for an upgrade comes, I cant sli on the z87-k so should I consider changing board too or should I just swap out graphics cards for if I do upgrade?

Hmmm well either switch out your board for one that can sli or get a AMD Radeon HD 7950 by Powercolor.
