So 2 days ago i bought an asus Nvidia Geforce 660 ti. I plugged it in correctly and booted it up. everything was fine. i installed the drivers from the CD and then checked to see if there were any new drivers. there was. 327.whatever it is. the newest nvidia drivers right now. well i tried going into game like Just Cause 2 or Assassins Creed 3 and about a min later the monitor shuts off and i can still hear sound and its as if i can play but there is not image. so i have to hold down the power button and restart. i can play minecraft so what im guessing is its a heat issue.

My Rig:

Motherboard: Asus Crosshair V Formula Z
Processor: AMD FX 8350 (4ghz, 8 core processor)
Power Supply: Corsair AX760 (760 watts)
Ram: 1 A-Data at 1033 mhz and 1 G skill at 1333 both 4 gb so 8 gb total.
GPU: Asus 660 TI
Cooler: Corsair H100i

Anymore info and i can give it.

Now also i use Asus GPU tweak and when i try to put everything at lowest settings, the gpu crashes and all the colors of the screen change and stuff then the monitor goes off and comes back on fine with a thing saying "nvidia kernal crashed and has recovered" whatever that means other than it crashed and came back on.

Anyways, help is much appreciated and i have looked all over the internet for this answer but nothing. so i might as well start a new thread. should i just return it for a different GPU? im litterally ready to do just that. Also i put in my old asus gt 630 and everything played fine (other than the fps being lower) but no crashes. Again, please help. i have a LAN party in 2 weeks and i need to know what to do. and if i have to return it, should i get a new gpu of a different brand? like gigabyte instead of asus or should i just get like AMD 7990? i would prefer nvidia over amd (i love physx) but thanks for any help :)

There could be many things causing this. This is a good thread of stuff to try out. https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/524583/geforce...

I figured it out. So on my 660 ti, there are two 6 pin connectors for power. well off one one single pcie to psu cable wasnt enough power so i have to use 2 seperate psu to pcie cables on each of the 6 pin connectors on the gpu. everything is working now and games are beautiful!
