Hello all. I apologize ahead of time if this topic has been seen before- unfortunately, I do not have reliable access to the internet at the moment.
I recently made the following upgrades to my gaming rig:
-upgraded my hd 6770 card to a 7850 (msi twin frozr oc).
-upgraded my cpu from an intel pentium dual core to a i5 3350p
-upgraded to a samsung evo ssd
The ssd and 7850 appear to be fully functional, however, when I install the i5 3350p, I get no signal to my monitor and the entire rig seems to power cycle. It will literally attempt to power on (fans, lights, etc. power up) then it quickly loses power and shuts off. It does this repeatedly in quick intervals.
If I wait a bit, then attempt to power it up, it will stay on until I attempt to plug something into a usb port or manually turn on the monitor.
My current PSU was purchased in late 2011 and is an Antec Basiq 550.
Does this sound like a classic case of psu failure or could something else be the cause?
NOTE: I believe that the 7850 and ssd are in working order because I re-installed my old cpu and everything seemed to work flawlessly. I updated my graphics drivers (catalyst control) and ran windows update- still no luck.
Any advice or ideas thrown my way would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.
