Reuse two-week-old Thermal Paste?

This is my first build, and I could not get the computer to POST for two whole weeks. Thinking the problem was within the GPU, I had RMA'd it, but there was no problem with it so, at this very moment, I am waiting for the GPU to get sent back.

The red CPU LED was ON on my M5A99X Evo. r2.0 indicating that there is a problem with my CPU. The technicians at NCIX told me to remove the heatsink and to check for bent pins.

As I take out the Heatsink, the CPU came out with it, and luckily there were no bent pins. I re-installed it, using the already applied thermal paste, test benched it outside of he chassis with my dad's six-year-old GPU and it worked.

So all is well, however, despite the NCIX guy telling me there's nothing to worry about, I am worried I would have to buy and reapply new Thermal Paste.
Is it okay to listen to the NCIX guy, or should I go out and buy some new Thermal Paste and reapply it all?

Solution
Even if it's 30 seconds old, if you've separated the CPU from the heat sink in any way, you should clean off both and re-apply new thermal paste.

That's what I thought...
I haven't been impressed with NCIX's customer care...

Which thermal compound do you recommend?

I hear the IC Diamond Thermal Paste is pretty good. ...or any Silver Based Thermal Paste.

Arctic Silver 5 is still the best recommended it has a 5 out of 5 with more then 3,000 reviews on newegg. I hope this helps at least a little bit. Please feel free to contact me about any other questions/concerns you may have in the future. Also please remember to pick your best solution so other people may learn from your thread.
