Hey guys, i just bought a new dodo 3g modem and i do not have a router that has a usb port in it. At the moment it is plugged into my laptop and i have an ethernet running onto any other device that i need to have internet by sharing the connection in windows. I want to be able to let that ethernet from my laptop connect to a router that doesn't have a usb port but use it as a somewhat wireless switch so i can connect more then one thing at a time. Its a bigpond 3G9WB which is a mobile data router and i have already tried inserting the dodo sim card into it but to no avail.
Any settings i need to change on the router or is it just not possible and i should be buying a new router ?

Thanks

So if you have the ICS working you can use that router as a switch/AP by connecting the PC to a lan port. You will likely have to disable the 3g radio as well as the standard DHCP. It SHOULD? work but I have never tried using a router like that as a AP.

It would be nice if that router supported external broadband radios but it only uses its own internal one, the usb appears to be used to hook to a PC when you want to use the router as a modem.

In the long run you are going to be better off buying a router that supports your broadband modem.

You can buy a new router, but you might be able to get by without doing that.

First turn off ICS (it is not compatible with what we do next). Then, go into the network control panel, change adapter settings, highlight both the 3g and Ethernet adapters and right click , then select bridge connection. That should share your Internet capable adapter with the other LAN.

I don't even have the option to Bridge the connections and everything is grayed out. I can bridge connections between Wireless card and the Ethernet connection. Suggestions ?
