Hi Guys,
Downloaded the Battlefield 4 beta last night and am really enjoying it. However, I get 70 - 80% CPU usage and was wondering if it is finally time to upgrade my i7 950. I get 100% usage out of my GTX 780 so was thinking of adding another for SLI.

With such high CPU usage, would my CPU bottleneck 780 SLI?

Can't really afford to upgrade both CPU and GPU, any thoughts guys?

If thats the only game you want it for just wait until its out of beta and it should run better without an upgrade. But if you have 2 x 780s you want the best CPU to go with them, so basically I suggest no upgrade until you can get a CPU & second GPU. The 780s will likely reduce in price when the next gen AMD cards release this month.

That game is not running very well at all. It was using 100% of all 4 cores of my 3570k and only about 60% of each 7870 giving me about 15-40 fps. If bf4 is the only reason for an upgrade just wait for the game to be released.

Yes BF4 is the only game causing me problems. I understand it is a beta but was still shocked by cpu usage. Im trying to keep hold of this system until ddr 4 releases, dont really want to drop a load of cash on an upgrade and ddr 4 releases just after!

you might try to Overclock that CPU higher to 3.8 GHz or 4.0 GHz. For 2X 780 SLI .Besides that will help you get the max playable FPS in a cpu demanding game and will use the full potential power of your GPU.

I didn't answer your question before. What matters with cpu usage is if any of the cores are maxed out, not so much the overall usage. Did you see any cores maxed out or were all about even at 70-80%? If none were maxed out then you wouldn't notice a difference with a new cpu, but if you SLI you would almost definitely see your cpu maxed out.
