He guys... so some background. When installing windows 8, a restart is prompted during installation. When my PC restarts, the monitor doesn't. My monitor stays off. So, having to hold the power button ends up corrupting the installation. Reinstalling windows 8: I format the SSD but it still won't let me install. So i end up deleting the partition that was created during the last attempted install, and I think I deleted the actual primary SSD. eventually I was able to install windows successfully. One thing I noticed however, it didn't make a partition. Does this mean anything?

There's more!

My ram is set at 8gb with 1600mhz, but my bios measures the frequency at 1335mhz. I have set it manually to 1600 but when I do, sometimes the bios will not detect the ssd that holds the OS, so I end up having to reset it to 1335 just to gain access to the OS. Another issue goes back to the beginning. Restarting my pc won't turn on my monitor. The monitor only turns on if i hold down the power button to turn off and press again to turn on. I've tried connecting the hdmi cable from the graphics card to the motherboard, but that doesn't work at all. The monitor doesn't turn on no matter what i do. When connected to the GPU: Sometimes pressing the reset button works, but not all the time. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks! Here are the Specs. The OS is installed on the ADATA SSD. http://pcpartpicker.com/user/xavi/saved/2q34

Edit: I forgot to mention that I have installed the drivers for the motherboard and the graphics card. Also when my os boots up, it doesn't display the correct aspect ratio for my monitor? its a bit smaller with black empty space on the outline of the interface. I though this would fix itself after I installed the drivers?

How did you change the RAM speed? Did you enter it manually or did you enable xmp? Try doing it the other way from what you already tried. If you do it manually make sure to enter the advertised speed, voltage, and timings.

Disable the onboard gpu in BIOS since you are using a gpu. This isn't usually necessary, but it may help narrow it down in this case.

Now as for the install issues. That almost sounds like a failing ssd to me. Mine acted kind of similar before it died.

What driver are you using for the gpu? Have you ever changed them or is this the first one you've installed?

I changed the frequency manually. I couldn't find anything in the BIOS that says XMP?
As for the GPU, I installed the driver from the CD and when I started to encounter these problems I went to the AMD site and downloaded the latest Beta driver from a usb.

edit- ok i found the xmp settings. trying to reboot but of course the monitor isnt turning on.

Some observations concerning monitor or what ever else is messed up:
Restarting from bios, manually does not turn on monitor. Pressing reset button usually fixes it.
Restarting manually from OS works, but using reset button from OS doesn't turn on monitor, Pressing reset button fixes it.

Holy crap I just realized I didn't install Windows Updates. I feel like a noob (Which I am anyway)!
I'll have to do this when I come back from class. I'll update in a few hours if this resolves anything or not.

Ok After a minor setback I have installed the latest GPU driver and updated windows. It fixed nothing. I was thinking of resting the operating system. I tried this earlier (this is where the minor setback comes into play). After several hours it got to 66%...theeeeen I accidentally ejected the CD. the reason i feel like trying this again is because it said a partition was missing... and that it will fix it. also the interface is still not using the full space of the monitor.
