Doubling 6850 power

Dear all
My current box has a PowerColor HD 6850 1GB GDDR Gfx card fitted onto a Asus Maximus IV Gene-Z Gen 3 Z68 Socket 1155 mobo.

The build will be 2 years old in the coming new Year.

Therefore I'm considering a new GFX card, which hopefully will last the planned folowing 3 years before a new build.

What I am looking to do, is approximately double my current GFX performance, in the context of gaming in the main.

Bearing that in mind, what card should I be looking at to gain that 100% gfx boost?

The PSU is an 850 watt coolermaster (was specced to take 2 560ti if need be.

Budget is up to £200 , if such a performance leap can be gained for that amount or less.

I do wish to avoid SLI/Crossfire if possible.

Thanks for the suggestion , but as I've had bad experience with O/C ing I'd stick with design speeds.

Thanks all, I think between you you've answered my question.

I just have to see how pricing of the 2 cards varies in the next 3 months or so, to judge if the 7970 is worth the extra punch
