I need few ram tips

Im buildinga gaming pc.
It will use asrock h87 pro4 motherboard with an i5 cpu.

I was told that 8 gb is enough for gaming.
My motherboard will have 4 x ddr3 slots.
Would the performance be bette if i would have
1 X 8GB stick or 2 x 4GB sticks?

  1. If you crowd all of your RAM slots now, you're going to forfeit your ability to upgrade your memory and raise compatibility issues with certain CPU coolers. And I don't think the difference between dual channel and quad channel RAM is all that different.

Either way they will operate the same speed you will see no difference between 1 8GB stick or 2 4GB sticks. **as long as both 4GB sticks are the same speed. So what ever your preference would be, if you want to conserve space for future upgrades get the 1 8GB if you don't care or have enough space for anything go with 2 4GB sticks. I had 2 4GB 10600 and just upgraded to 4 2GB 12800; But i have all the room i want because i dont have a CPU fan im liquid cooled. I also dont notice the speed difference between 10600 and 12800 the only reason i did the upgrade because i got the RAM for free.
  3. Ill go with 8GB stic so i can upgrade later.
