Hi guys, i have just ordered a new laptop with Windows8 pre installed onto a 5400 HD.

basically I intend to use a 250Gb ssd to run the OS and a few select games/programs and use the original HD as storage.

has anybody got a step by step idiots guide as to how to transfer the OS over to the SSD. I'm fine to physically install the drive etc. It's just the technical stuff I'm a bit worried about.

thanks in advance.

1. Install the SSD on your system. Install OS onto it. Make it AHCI in BIOS for SATA mode.

2. Install the HDD. Format/Partition it on Disk Management.

NOTE : Leave alteast 10% free space on SSD for better performance, turn off the hibernation, schedule defragment. And it is best to install an OS on a drive and not to clone it or transfer it. The OS always needs to be installed. You will need a bootable media(DVD/USB) to install OS.
