so i installed the 8.1 iso from msdn , i tried to install it , and the problems shown ups.
1 - the windows freeze in splash screen .
2 - clock watchdog timeout error and its freeze too

i convert the sata from IDE to AHCI i guess and the problems still occurred

so what is the gig people ?

excuse my English :D

Solution

OK. That didn't quite answer my question, regardless, it looks like you've found the culprit!

What's the actual name of the wireless card?!? Make absolutely sure you have the latest driver for that card! If there is new firmware available for the card, you might consider updating that as well, although...
Probably sata controller driver, download the Intel SATA Preinstall driver (v11.6) from Gigabyte, stick on your SSD, when you come to choose the partition to install on, load this driver and then select your SSD. AHCI should be your mode of choice !

We need more information to respond.

First off, 32-bit or 64-bit Windows? I assume the latter.

When do these problems occur?!? Do you get all the way though the installation? Do the problems show up immediately after the installation? What exactly are you doing when they occur?

Regardless, you can install the SATA driver after your installation as well. First off, check the device manager, and look for the disk controller. Not the disk drive itself, but the controller. Depending on what driver you have installed, it will be under one of two areas: IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers or Storage controllers. It should be the latter. What driver is loaded now? If it's NOT the latest Intel driver, then install it...

Oh! Big IF... The SSD is on the Intel controller, correct?!? I'm not sure what the other controller(s) is/(are) on that board. If the SSD isn't on the Intel controller, you should reinstall and put it there.

Download the Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver from Intel, as Gigabyte is forever behind in their updates. The current version to use is 12.8.0.1016. (Note: This link is for the English page.):

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=23060&ProdId=2101&lang=eng&OSVersion=Windows%208.1*&DownloadType=Drivers

There you can download the full installation (SetupRST.exe), as well as the pre-installs (f6flpy-x64.zip/f6flpy-x86.zip), which are the ones to use during your installation. If your system is stable enough to do so, try installing the full version, reboot, and see if that helps.

Let us know the answers to the questions anyway, as they'll help us help you! ;)

Hold on here! Can you get into Windows at all?!? I'm a little confused.

You said it happens on boot, but you were able to check your drivers. How could you check the drivers if it freezes on boot?!?

Anyway, you need to do a memory check. I don't remember if there's a memtest built into Windows 8. (There was in Windows 7.) If you reboot and hit F8, is there a memory test as one of the options? If so, run it!

If not, download the memtest86+ ISO, burn it to a CD, and boot from the disk. Run the test to check your RAM. You may have a faulty memory stick.

OK. That didn't quite answer my question, regardless, it looks like you've found the culprit!

What's the actual name of the wireless card?!? Make absolutely sure you have the latest driver for that card! If there is new firmware available for the card, you might consider updating that as well, although, before you decide to do so, take into consideration how comfortable you feel with the update procedure. Doing something wrong when updating firmware, any firmware, can lead to a bricked device, regardless of what that device might be!

In general, you should only update device firmware after reading all of the documentation and deciding that the firmware might be causing the problem.

This is all general information, and hypothetical, as we don't even know if there's a new firmware update.

No matter what, get the latest driver for that card!

My suggestion would be to reinstall Windows 8 from scratch, without that card present! Then, and only then, insert the card into your system and install the latest driver. See what happens! If your system is stable before adding the card, and crashes after (and after you've installed the driver), then that's your culprit!

I had the same freezing problem (SSD load 100%) with windows 7, 8 and 8.1. some times it go away when I re install windows. A few days ago I installed windows 8.1 twice and can´t solve the freezing problem until now.
As many said the problem was SATA/AHCI/IDE but you don´t need to change ACHI to IDE or I don't.

The hard drive works with any problems with AHCI mode.

I solved the problem when I install new RAID drivers.

My PC Configuration:
AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition
ASrock 990FX Extreme 4 AM3+
GeForce GTX 560Ti
Kingston SSD 128GB SH100S3120G
2x Kingston 2048 MBytes PC3-10700 + 2x OCZ 2048 MBytes OCZ3P1600EB2G
I get the new drivers here:

That's essentially the same suggestion as I had, except yours is an AMD system, not an Intel system.

That said, you reminded me of one thing I neglected to ask...

Ahmad_, what is your disk controller set to in BIOS?!? In your BIOS, there is a section where you set up the Intel disk controller. Your choices are IDE, AHCI, and RAID. If you have other disks on that controller that are set up as RAID, then that's obviously your choice. Otherwise, make sure that the controller is set to AHCI, not IDE. For an SSD on the Intel controller, it should not be set to IDE!

Regardless, the most important thing is that you install the Rapid Storage Technology driver from the Intel website! Here's the link for the current version, 12.9.0.1001:

IntelRST for Windows 8.1

hey guys , lately i reinstalled the latest BIOS update , previously i was just repaved anew win 8.1 so every thing was great , after the new BIOS installed , it was freezing at splash screen , so i checked the BIOS , and changed the disc controller to AHCI , also i read a lot about AHCI , and IDE , the was easy to grasp and essential for knowing how your PC work.

that was my last adventure.

however , for the main problem here i still having a problem if put my Wireless card back .
i figured out it was the main problem , if i putted out from the mother board , every thing work perfectly.
i tried to put it back after the new BIOS and win 8.1 , and the freezing was happened after some minutes while the windows was loaded , i believed that the new BIOS fixed it , but when i tried to open fire fox , the freezing problem showed its face !
even i can't try to re install a new driver or a new firmware.

i really want a suggestion to that problem , or at least a good wireless card , or usb wireless card.

thanks all , and forgive my Typos

I have the same problem with system freezes. They occur randomly, I hadn't been able to draw some kind of pattern between them. My OS and programs are installed on SSD and games and etc mostly on HDD. The only solution I have is to constantly run some serious game in background (consumes energy and produces more noise and heat) and there will be no freezes at all. This means (?) that the problem is somewhere in the "relationship" between ssd and hdd. It freezes trying to spin the hard drive and unfreezes when hdd begins to spin. I dunno how to fix this problem.
