Ok so I need some quick advice... I am near a microcenter today and want to pull the trigger on the start of my new build... bu I cant decide on the cpu.. I can afford any cpu mobo combo but that decision will effect my budget for the rest of the build... if I get an 8350 I can afford to look at the r9 290x, that is of course if the projected price stays around the 599 mark. If I get a 4770k I could only go as high as a 770... I have a psu hdd os so.e ddr3 that can hold me over for a little while if needed and a case I can use for now but I WILL be getting a 750d case. So I need cpu and mobo... like I said I am near a microcenter but they are out of stock on 4770k but I am pretty sure frys will price match and the have them in stock.. I would love a i7 but kinda leaning towards fx for the boost in gpu.... help me please.... thanks!

Mainly a gaming computer...

Few games use more than 2-3 threads, so the extra threads of the FX or the 4770K are not useful.
I would look at the 4670K or a 3570K which is all the cpu power you need for most any gaming configuration.
The better intel performance per core is more important.

On graphics, I agree with the strongest single gpu card you can afford.
In the case of the R9-290X I have some concerns.
1. I have seen no legitimate benchmarks.
2. A new architecture is bound to have some initial driver issues.
3. If issues arise, there will be availability delays.
4. If the $600 price is true, you can expect that the performance will not be too different from a GTX780. If performance is much better, you can expect retailers to jack up the price considerably.

I agree with your points but the fx is still a bit cheaper then the i5 and I was planning to stream game play some time in the future.. and as for the gpu I am not decided as to which way to go.. if the rumors are true and its on par with a 780 at a discount I am all over it... just waiting to see the specs and benchies when its out...
