Since the new cards are only 2 weeks away from release, you should just wait. Who knows where the prices will end up for the previous generation after the launch. They are allready dropping and I expect they may drop a little bit more yet, but probably not too much more.

PS: Since there are so many 7000 series cards in supply right now, I'm expecting the black friday sales to be pretty good for certain AMD products as well. ;)

Well which one is it??? If you plan on hardcore gaming (Ultra settings crysis 3), the 7970 would be the choice over the 7850. If you plan on only medium settings then the 7850 would be a better deal.
