I'm pretty sure my Mac has a virus. At first It wouldn't let me open up any applications nothing was responding. I shutdown the computer the whole night. Powered it on this morning it was running slow but I was able to open up the Internet and I was trying to download macafee virus protection through my att net uverse service and It would not let me. I tried to download a virus protection thru comcast(my dads account) and it also wasn't responding. But if I try it through my phone it works perfectly fine. I'm assuming this virus will not let me download the virus protection? I don't know much about computers. Can anyone help?? What should I do next??

The current OS X has pretty good anti-malware already built-in, have you tried looking through the log files to see if any warnings/errors have been reported?

you could try this on http://lifehacker.com/the-best-antivirus-app-for-mac-48... but do not connect ot net when you will install and made the scan .

My computer freezes or goes extremely slow when I'm trying to to open anything. When I try to look into files it literally takes 20 minutes to do anything. But I will try to look into in and see if there were any errors.
